One Obstacle, Many Solutions

The root of the malnutrition problem in Haiti is the farmers’ inability to supply sufficient food to feed their families. In response, PIA’s Family Assistance Program empowers families with children in the [malnutrition program] with training and agricultural starter packages. Men are being provided tools and seeds, and women are being educated on proper nutrition for their children.

After their first harvest, these families give back seeds and livestock to help another family in need, ensuring the continuous growth of the project and teaching the principle of sharing with those less fortunate. In addition, the education and information provided through the training sessions has created a different way of thinking in the community, resulting in better treatment of children overall.
